Galatasaray Open Negotiations to Sign Richarlison from Tottenham

Galatasaray have reportedly begun discussions over a possible summer move for Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison. The Turkish champions are looking to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes, and the Brazil international has emerged as one of their principal targets.

According to information from Burhan Can Terzi via Haber Sarikirmizi, Galatasaray have identified two forwards as priorities for the final stage of their recruitment campaign. FC Porto striker Deniz Gul has been on the club’s shortlist since January, while Richarlison is now being considered as another leading option.

A deal for Gul would reportedly require an investment of approximately €15 million. Richarlison, however, would represent a significantly more expensive operation. Tottenham are understood to value the former Everton player at around €30 million, while the Brazilian is said to be seeking an annual salary of roughly €15 million should he move to Turkey.

Richarlison’s Tottenham career has been inconsistent

Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton in July 2022 after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable attacking players. Expectations were high when he arrived in north London, but his spell with the club has been disrupted by injuries, inconsistent form and difficulties maintaining a regular run of matches.

The 29-year-old has nevertheless shown signs of revival during the 2025/26 campaign. He featured frequently during a challenging season for Tottenham and finished as the club’s leading scorer. Across 43 appearances in all competitions, Richarlison registered 12 goals and five assists.

Those figures do not completely erase the concerns surrounding his long-term future, but they underline the qualities that continue to make him attractive to leading clubs. He can play as a central striker, operate from either wing and contribute through his physical presence, movement and ability to attack the penalty area.

Why Galatasaray are interested

Galatasaray’s interest is understandable given the changes to their attacking options. The club parted company with Mauro Icardi earlier in the summer, leaving a significant gap at centre-forward. Wilfried Zaha has also departed as a free agent, while Leroy Sane’s position at the club is reportedly uncertain.

As a result, Galatasaray need an attacker capable of covering several positions rather than a specialist striker who can only operate centrally. Richarlison’s versatility could make him particularly useful. He could lead the line, play as a wide forward or provide an alternative tactical option when the team requires a more direct style.

His experience at Premier League level and with the Brazilian national team would also add quality and authority to Galatasaray’s squad. The club are expected to compete domestically while pursuing ambitious European objectives, meaning they require depth as well as established talent.

Tottenham prepared to consider a sale

Tottenham are reportedly willing to allow Richarlison to leave if their financial demands are met. The London club’s €30 million valuation suggests that they do not intend to release him cheaply, despite the player’s uneven record since arriving from Everton.

A transfer could benefit both sides. Tottenham would remove a substantial salary from their wage bill and generate funds for further squad planning. Richarlison, meanwhile, could join a team prepared to make him a central figure rather than one of several competing attacking options.

The main difficulty is likely to be the financial structure of the agreement. Galatasaray must decide whether to pay Tottenham’s asking price while also meeting Richarlison’s reported wage expectations. A contract worth €15 million per year would place considerable pressure on the Turkish club’s budget.

Everton also remain a possible destination

Richarlison has previously been linked with a return to Everton. The Merseyside club were interested in bringing him back last summer, although negotiations did not produce an agreement. A second attempt cannot be ruled out, particularly if the forward decides that returning to a familiar environment would help him regain his best form.

However, Galatasaray may offer a more attractive sporting opportunity in the short term. The Turkish club can provide regular European football, a prominent role in attack and the chance to compete for major domestic honours. Those factors could influence Richarlison’s decision if negotiations progress.

What must happen for the transfer to be completed?

The proposed move depends on three key issues. First, Galatasaray would need to reach an agreement with Tottenham over a fee close to €30 million. Second, the Turkish side would have to find a way to accommodate the player’s wage demands. Finally, Richarlison would need to approve the sporting project and commit to moving away from the Premier League.

The timing of the talks could also be important. With the transfer deadline approaching, all parties may face pressure to make a quick decision. Galatasaray need attacking reinforcements, Tottenham must determine whether Richarlison remains part of their plans, and the player needs clarity over his next step.

At present, negotiations appear to be at an exploratory stage rather than close to completion. Galatasaray have made their interest known, but the financial gap could prevent the transfer from moving forward. Unless the clubs find a compromise on the fee or the player adjusts his salary expectations, the deal may prove difficult to finalise.

For now, Richarlison’s future remains uncertain. Galatasaray have identified him as a high-profile solution to their attacking problems, while Tottenham appear open to selling. The Brazilian’s next destination will ultimately depend on whether the Turkish champions can balance their sporting ambitions with the substantial cost of the proposed transfer.
