Galatasaray Consider 2027 Move for Ismaila Sarr as Liverpool Interest Fades

Crystal Palace could face another decision over Ismaila Sarr as Galatasaray keep the Senegal international on their radar. The Turkish club are understood to be weighing up a fresh attempt to sign the winger in 2027, after an earlier approach was rejected during the summer.

Sarr remained at Selhurst Park despite interest from several clubs, including Liverpool. The Merseyside side were reportedly prepared to offer around £50 million, but Palace were not persuaded to sell. Liverpool’s pursuit has since cooled, leaving the player’s next step uncertain.

The situation is not straightforward. Sarr is only recently back in Pierre Sage’s first-team plans after a difficult start to the campaign, and his role has been more limited than his performances last season might have suggested. That contrast has renewed speculation about whether he will remain part of Palace’s long-term plans.

His previous campaign made him a valuable asset. Sarr played a major role in Palace’s Conference League success and finished as the competition’s top scorer. His pace, ability to beat defenders and threat when running into space helped make him one of the club’s most dangerous attacking players. Palace’s reluctance to part with him is therefore understandable, even if the player was believed to be open to a new challenge.

Galatasaray’s continued interest indicates that their summer pursuit was more than a passing inquiry. The Turkish champions have already shown a willingness to invest in the forward, and they could return if circumstances make a deal more achievable. Sarr’s profile would suit a team looking for speed and penetration, particularly in matches where opponents defend deep or leave space behind their back line.

The winger could also offer a different attacking option from Leroy Sané, whose form has reportedly been inconsistent. Sarr’s direct style and capacity to stretch defences may appeal to Galatasaray as they look to strengthen their squad for domestic and European competition. Any move, however, would depend on the club’s plans, Palace’s demands and the player’s own preference.

Palace are understood to have made progress in discussions over a new contract. A renewed deal would strengthen the club’s position and make clear that they see Sarr as an important part of the squad. It would not necessarily end outside interest, but it could make any future transfer more expensive and give Palace greater control over the timing.

The Eagles are not believed to be actively trying to sell him. A sufficiently attractive offer could still prompt them to reconsider, particularly if contract negotiations fail to reach an agreement. Saudi Pro League clubs have also been linked with Sarr, potentially creating further competition should Palace become willing to listen.

For the player, the coming months may be decisive. Regular minutes and a return to the form he showed last season would strengthen his case to stay at Palace, while also drawing attention from interested clubs. On the other hand, continued time on the fringes could make a change of scenery more appealing.

A move to Galatasaray would likely offer Sarr a prominent role and the chance to contribute in European fixtures. Yet a transfer is not guaranteed simply because the club have pursued him before. Palace’s valuation, the length and terms of any new contract, and the winger’s standing in the first team will all shape the negotiations.

Liverpool’s earlier interest remains an indication of the level Sarr can reach, but Anfield currently appears a less likely destination. For now, Palace have the advantage: they hold the player’s contract and have shown that they will not accept an offer that falls short of their expectations.

There is no certainty that Sarr will leave in 2027. A strong run of performances could quickly change the discussion, while improved playing time may persuade him that his future remains at Selhurst Park. If his role stays restricted and contract talks stall, however, Galatasaray may have a realistic opportunity to revive their interest.
